Sports Day

First aid duty today for the Sports Day. The difference is that this year we could not get an ambulance from HQ and had to engage the service of a private ambulance service.

Superteen workshop

Pretty touched to see that the parents are so supportive of the event. I hope that my 5A1 will continue to make me proud and work towards their goal after the workshop. Thanks to those who came forward and hugged me - really make me feel like a mother to all of you!

Service learning 5A1

My form class performed their service learning in the groundbreaking cum soft launch of wellness programme at Blk 572 today. Some of the students helped out in sorting out and distributing the goodies bag and some helped out in the double biking activity.
I met some of the students at 7.15 a.m. at the foodcourt opposite Blk 571. The organizer was kind enough to provide breakfast at the foodcourt for our students. I was happy that most of them turned up early. After that we proceeded to Blk 572 and our students were briefed on their duties. Some of them also helped out in arranging the chairs.
It was not easy for the students in the double biking activity as the bikes were quite huge and they must coordinate with the elderly behind them or they will lose their balance. After the cycling event ended, some of the students helped out in the craft section.

National Footdrill competition 16 Feb 2008

Our team participated in the Red Cross fancy drill competition held in Bendemeer Sec today.

Our cadets did well in the formation - stretching it across the whole parade square.

However there were a few areas for improvements:

1. Better coordination of movements.

2. Need to synchronise their marching tempo with the music.

Their music was also similar to another team ("drive me crazy" by Britney Spears) and I think it affected them as well. How I wished they would have used the 'whistle song" (trance with upbeat tempo) which I had selected for them - I should have insisted as the music definitely makes a difference to the overall impact.

Well - we will try harder next year! I must still applaud our cadets for their efforts in preparing for the competition.
