Penang 17 to 21 Jun 2014

I was very impressed with the service of traders hotel in Penang. From picking us up from the airport to the hotel, to the reception by Azlin at the entrance at the hotel made us felt like VIP. Pleasantly surprised that they have already prepared the room and there was no need to check in at the counter... we went straight up to the room!

The service rendered at the lounge was fantastic.. too bad hubby was sick and spent most of the time on bed.
Took a quick afternoon tea.. the chocolate croissant was good with the thick creamy coffee.

We took a cab to Gurney plaza and bought some medicine and tvb drama series. Took the lunch at a Chinese restaurant... average rating. Back at the hotel hubby rested and I went over to Prangin Mall to do some shopping.

Excellent service by the lounge again as they made me a cocktail screwdriver and I love the orange duck crepe. I was told they change the menu everyday.

Day 2

Lee is still not feeling well and they are so nice suggesting that I bring some porridge to Lee.

Hired a trishaw to bring us around to see the street art. 80 ringgit for 2 hr.

At Khoo Kongsi where Anna and the king was filmed.

At Chew Jetty

Famous kway Chap at Kimberley street 汕头街 .. love the intestines and Lee loves the pig blood curds.

Knowing that hubby is not feeling well, the hotel staff sent tea with lemon and honey to the room. So sweet of them and thumb up for traders hotel again

Day 3
Took a cab to Kek Lok Temple and wanted to go to Penang hill but the funicular under maintenance.

Went to Batu Ferringgi and ate at a local food court - nice er fu noodle and prawn mee - so cheap too!
Coffe is only 1.3 ringgit. Love my prawn mee soup too.

Went over to golden sand resort.. nice place to stay and relax. Love the beach but not really into the water sports or parachuting. It is really a nice resort with beautiful pools and beach front.

After that I visited lone Pine hotel where the TVB drama 单恋双城 was filmed.

Took a cab to Penang road for the famous Chendol... best food so far.

Bought goreng pisang and corn too.. wonder why the corn in malaysia is so crunchy and sweet.

Ate the famous charcoal grilled toast at toh soon cafe nearby.

Love the steak and chargrilled baby chicken which we ordered for room service

Day 4

Food trail today... starting with Carnation Bak Kut Teh at Gurney Drive. Love the soup .. so sweet 甘甜.. and the meat ball is nice too.

Took the taxi to Lorong Selemat for the famous Chay Kway Tiao.. the aroma is so strong.. nice! Love the rojak too... the prawn paste is really thick and I love it with the cuttlefish and the fruits esp starfruits and guava. Lor Bak or more like our 五香was average. The ice kacang with ice cream was such a relief from the hot weather.

Went to the Made in Penang Interactive museum.. a bit disappointed and the taxi driver brought us to Penang time tunnel with 3D mural which seemed better.

Went back to Prangin mall and tried the assam laksa with nasi lemak ... nice.. chendol is also nice but not as thick as the original one along Penang road roadside which we took yesterday. I like the nasi lemak - only MR$2!

Looking at some of the recommendation, we went to Lorong Bahru street hawkers. The wanton noodle at lorong bahru is nice... not so for the oyster omelette, bbq chicken wing and satay... quite a disappointment.

one of my favourite drink

Like this wanton mee cooked with lard and dark sauce... but miss the one in JB more.

The otak is unique and nice.. creamy instead of the hard one we have here... it is known as 鯉魚包here.

Satay looks nice but doesn't taste as good.

Ordered room service again - the trader's hotel penang served good food and quite reasonably priced.
