Set off from Golden Mile Complex with Five Stars Executive coach at 7 a.m. and reached Hotel Resort at 2 p.m. The ride was not too bad as the seat has massage function and each of of us has a personal entertainment system. However, Chris suffered from motion sickness on our way up the hill. Upon arrival at the First World Bus Terminal, we had to walk quite a distance to our hotel. I located Hotel resort and quickly took the queue no. but I still had to wait for almost an hour to check in. They could not give us connecting rooms and we got 2 rooms on the same floor - 9110 and 9128. I must say the views from our rooms were great, overlooking the outdoor theme park and the highlands in the distance. The rooms were newly renovated and I love the design - especially the wardrobe which can be accessed from the aisle leading to the bedroom and the toilet.
We went for dinner at Flavours in First World Plaza as I had to go to the box office to collect the tickets for the show Dreamz which I had booked online. The food was not too bad but a little too salty! We still had time before the show which starts at 9 pm daily so we went to snow world. Though Ian enjoyed the place, my mother-in-law could not stand the cold, my husband had to bring her out - I should not have bought the tickets for them but just for the kids.
I was very impressed with the Dreamz performance - a combination of illusionist performance, acrobatic stunts and a night of music and dance. My heart almost leaped out looking at 4 motorcyclists spinning around inside a small round cage. I was equally amazed by the performance of the illusionists featuring Enrique Polo - I still could not figure out how they could disappear and appear from one place to another.They could even be suspended in the air and the body was sawn into half. The acrobats from China was equally impressive and my heart goes to the little girls who were literally thrown into the air - it must be really tough on them having to do the same stunts everyday. We took pictures with the white lion and the white tiger which cost us RM130 with one more reprint (3X 8R). Though I paid a hefty RM520 for the show - I would say it was worth it.
After the show we went for supper at Causeway Bay Restaurant - and I must say the food was good! We had fried rice, french toast, black pepper chicken chop etc. However one thing to note - everything cost much more in Genting and I exceeded my budget for this trip as I had to pay more than RM150 for every meal!
We had breakfast in MacDonalds on the 2nd day - equally expensive especially when the hotcake meal consists of 2 pieces of hotcake as compared to 3 pieces in Singapore. After that, Ian enjoyed himself at the Rainforest Splash Pool - free entry for guests in Hotel Resort, Genting and Highland.
I paid a total of RM203 for the All park - a total waste of money as we could not enjoy any outdoor rides as the queues were too long. We only managed to go for the monorail (caterpillar) ride, the rio ride, the venice gondala and visited the dinoursaurland (we could not even get into dinosaurland boating as the queue was long). The only thing which Chris and Ian enjoyed was the cloud which floated by and the cool temperature outdoor.
We went to Ripley's believe it or not museum after dinner at Kopitiam. I would advise you not to go there for food - a total disaster - worst food you can find at hefty prices. The foodcourt below it is much better! We were not very impressed with the museum either though my sons were quite amused by the optical illusion.
We also bought some DVDs from Speedy Video - quite a good bargain. My sons love the Simpson series and we bought some TVB drama series and cantonese movie. We bought some supper (porridge set) from Penang village at Theme Park Hotel - the food was so good that we decided to bring the family for dinner the next day. We got pizza for Chris and Ian.
On the 3rd day we took the cable car down to the lower skyway station. We visited the 10 animal kingdom in the skyway station - RM12 for adult and RM7 for children. I must say I did not regret going in as there were quite a no. of interesting animals - quite an eye opener.
We took a bus to PasarRakyat Terminal and then a cab to Sungei Wang - a real disappointment - we did not manage to buy anything except a die-cast model of a lorry for my son. We had our lunch at KFC. They even serve chicken rice in KFC! We took a cab to Chinatown (Petaling street) which cost us only RM5. After that we walked to PudraRaya Bus terminal and took the Genting express back to the lower skyway station and then the cable car back to the hotel. We enjoyed the cable car ride a lot - a real must for you if you visit Genting. You can get a closer view of the dense forest and canopy as well as listen to the chirping of the birds and noise made by the forest creatures on the way. You can even see the clouds floating by!
We took our dinner at Penang Village - the best food so far in Genting. We ordered Fried Kway Tiao, curry chicken rice set and Chris took curry mee and fried rice. Ian also took fried rice and also some of the fried carrot cake. We got this 3D crystal modelstone for Chris and Ian which cost RM180.
I brought Ian and Chris to the Cybercafe at Genting hotel on the last day - should have come here earlier as they serve Pizza and beef lagsane - I could not get beef lagsane from Pizza hut as they only had seafood lagsane. We ate our lunch at Hainan in First World Plaza. The Chicken rice is good. But again it was very costly. We made our way back from the Bus terminal at 2.30 p.m. and reached Singapore at 9.40 p.m.
