A Famosa 13 to 16 Dec 2007

Stayed at Afamosa from 13 to 16 Dec. Upgraded to a villa superior - supposedly to have better furniture compared to the normal villa.

My kids love the villa with the private pool. However my toilet bowl was not functioning and I had to call for maintenance everyday! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Simply love the "banana truck" (internal shuttle bus) - we just need to call the reception and the bus will arrive within 2 mins! Arrived and check in at around 1 p.m.

Called a taxi to bring us to Tamping to buy some groceries. The driver recommended bao from a small coffee shop - very soft and juicy! Went to the cowboy town at night and had dinner at Huang Di Restaurant - though the price was quite steep - around RM170 for the set menu including steamed fish, sweet and sour chicken, soup, vegetable, beancurd, tea, rice and drinks - they were quite well served. The wild wild west show and carnival were fascinating and I could not believe that they had real fireworks - and so close to us!

Breakfast was at the Waterworld and we could choose from Nasik Lemak, western ( sausage and bread) or fish porridge. You will really get bored with the food as they served the same food for the 3 days! After breakfast, we went to the waterworld and safari. My sons love the wave pool but not so for the other facilities. I felt quite cheated for lunch. I decided to have buffet lunch at the lakeview restuarant and to my horror it was exactly the place where we had our breakfast - the other door was at waterworld and it is called hillview restaurant! Imagine two restaurants sharing the same venue! It was more like food catering compared to a buffet! We asked for room service for dinner - the penang fried noodle and fish and chips were good. My sons did not like the burger as the bread had a strange smell.

My son tried go kart and paintball shooting on the 3rd day. My sons did not enjoy the kart ride - a real waste of the RM100. The shooting was more fun - 100 pellets at RM70. The horse fun ride was at RM10 for 2 rounds. It seemed that there are free archery and kayaking lessons on Mon, Wed and Thurs. After that we went to Malacca for some shopping and lunch. We took the buffet dinner at the clubhouse as it was inclusive in the tour package. The food was good but it was a bit too crowded as there were quite a no. of companies holding their function and family day.

Check out on 16 Dec.
