Good ideas - the many uses of water bottle

Remember my posting in April on how to make use of water bottle to make an air-tight storage?

This is another good idea on what you can do with the water bottle.
You can watch more posting of good ideas on this website:http://tv.ettoday.com/ettv/include/goodidea291_1.htm

HS Combined UG Camp 2007

A total of 80 Sec 2s, 52 Sec 3s, 18 instructors and 11 Teacher officers were involved in the Combined UG camp. The cadets learnt new skills such as Pioneering, in particular, ladder making and axemanship from the GirlGuides. They also learnt how to build a catapult and structure from the Scouts. The NPCC demonstrated the use of a rifle and the NPCC taught the cadets the use of range card and judging distances as well as duties of sentries and field signals. Definitely a lot of enrichment activities for our cadets. There is an amazing race for the cadets on Sat 24th Nov.

PSLE Results

Chris received his PSLE results today - 3As and a E for Chinese with an aggregate score of 191. He was quite happy with his results (3As) though I was hopping for a better results for his Chinese (a miracle?). Most probably I will have to enroll him in SSS as his agg. score is so low. I just hope that he would not be disadvantaged by his poor Chinese grade in his new school. I must say I am thankful that CL need not be included in the O level L1R5 calculation and I think he will definitely do much better then. Looking back at my own PSLE score - 4 As and 384(of course that was in 1979) seemed so impressive. I was posted to a SAP school and I did Chinese as my first language. I am just wondering how to encourage Chris to be more positive towards the learning of the Chinese language? Most of the time he would be with his grandma who do not speak Mandarin - maybe that's why.

I will be down with the combined NCO camp tomorrow till Sunday. Followed by a farewell lunch for Patty on 26th Nov. The next activity will be our home visit to Toa Payoh SCHCC on 3 Dec. Hopefully I will get to spend time with my family then - a short vacation to Malaysia or Batam.

12.30 to 6 p.m. Malacca Historical Tour

Our tour guide for the historical tour was Mr Sami. Walking down Jonker street - Pineapple tarts making demo, largest pineapple tart, bound feet shoes, chinese temple (Cheng Hoon Teng Temple), mosque (Masjid Kling), Indian temple. Visit to Cheng Ho Museum.

6 p.m. Check in Hotel Emperor Melaka - 17th storey. Some of the rooms had problems such as only hot water and no cold water. Very low water flow for the tap in the basin. One of the toilet's flush system did not work. As for my room, the tap cannot be closed completely and we called the maintenance. The technician came and said it is OK to let the water flow. So for 3 days and 2 nights, the water was flowing non-stop in the bath tub! The lifts are small and thank God we are on the higher floors. The lifts were normally packed when it reached the lower floors and the hotel guests have to wait for a long time. However the view was good from my room and I can see the sunset on the sea.

7.15 p.m. Diinner with Malacca Red Crescent Students and bonding games. Bonding at Red Crescent Melaka branch. Red Crescent members from the secondary schools in Malacca e.g. Infant Jesus Convent, Catholic High, St Francis Institution and Gajah Barang High School.
Speech by Mr Rudra. Got to meet Mr Lim Sze Huat, Teo and Penny as well as representatives from the different schools. Most of them are the president or vice-president of their schools and I must say that I am impressed by their confidence and ability to come forward to coordinate the activities.

8.30 a.m. 7th floor Poolside for Amazing Race Briefing.

16th Nov 2007:

7 a.m. Breafast at Hotel Emperor
8.30 a.m. Check out of hotel.
9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Kampong activities and lunch. Our guide for Kampong Cantik is Shanti. Silat Display followed by a traditional game of Gasing. The students also get to see how rubber trees are tapped and the produce from an oil palm tree. The students were also shown the different fruit trees and the padi field. The students were then shown the different ways in wearing a sarong as well as making a ketuput and playing tongkat.
After the Kampong lunch, we were supposed to visit a chocolate outlet but it was closed. I can see that many of the students were quite disappointed. Just wondering where went wrong with the communication? Anywhere the chocolate outlet does not look as good as the one I went to in 2003 - I must go back to my files and see where that is!
We reached school at around 6.30 p.m.

Microsoft Award Ceremony 7th Nov 2007

Prize presentation at NLB today - I am the champion for the MOE category(Powerpoint) and Ding Yan the 2nd runner-up for North Zone in Microsoft Words. Mr Lam received the trophy in appreciation of our school's participation. Thanks to Filzah and Amalina for being there to take the photos for us. I was also given a $50 Takashimaya voucher. I think my prize for being 2nd in the mystory competition is much better - $200 but I have not received the prize yet. Last year I won a Motorola hanphone V3x from the Motorola color contest - maybe next year I will win something bigger?
