Went to labrador park today to recce the route for the hike on Monday with Christine and Chee Jean. We will enter by the old fort entrance and then proceed on the trail towards the museum (tunnel) which is closed for renovation. Along the way, we will be looking at the gun placement areas and where the ammunition were kept by the British before WWII. This will form part of our heritage trail and our cadets will learn more about our historical heritage through these sites. Of course as required by the Outdoor activities component, the students will locate the various spots on the map given. We will then climb down a flight of stairs down to the promenade - it is pretty steep and we must caution the cadets to take care of each other when they make their way down. At the promenade, the students will have to make use of the compass to orientate themselves. I also suggested that the cadets can make use of the maze at the playground for some games. E.g. a member of the group blindfolded and directed out of the maze by the group members - building up confidence and trust.
