JB August 2024

Day 1

Took almost 3 hours today from home to hotel. Expected the jam as it's the start of the school holiday.

Finally reached JB. At Heng Wah in Holiday Villa for our first meal in this trip. Beautiful and clean coffee shop. Love the white Wanton Mee with the lard flavour! The fishcake and fried  bean curd are nice. The steam buns pandan kaya dip is unique but I wish it is the traditional kaya and butter. The buns are so soft!

The newly opened Eminent Reflexology is just located opposite Holiday Villa and KSL The reception area has free buns and ice cream as well as biscuits and drink. Went into the theatre for foot massage. The tea leaves egg is nice. There is also green bean soup and assorted kuehs.

Toppen Shopping Centre

Awesome experience with Space Suit at Space and you in Toppen Shopping Centre. However, it is very hot in a space suit.

What a feast at Johor Jaya food street which starts near Nanyang Kopi. Their food all got wok hei. I had Claypot chicken rice and hubby took pork knuckle rice and fried kway teow. We shared the ice kacang and green bean soup. Sumptuous

Who doesn't like surprises.  Quite ingenious of Ta-daa to market the drinks with surprise gifts. Love the mango coconut milk. Gotten a bear and a purple bag from the Ta-daa box next to Avery KSL

Beautiful night view of JB from the hotel.

Day 2

Beautiful sunrise.

Breakfast in the hotel. Malaysia's National Day so there was a cake. Porridge with condiments is always the comfort food. The salted caramel coffee is nice. The nann was cold and dry. The chicken curry not as good and puttu mayam was a disappointment as it's too dry. The sweet potato was nice. Average for the mee rebus.

Haircut and dye at Wovvo in KSL by Knight.

Delicious lunch at Restoran Sing Li next to KSL. Hubby took chicken rice and I ordered fried kway teow mee. Yummy. And of course my favourite goreng pisang. Love their coffee too.

The main reason why I have chosen this hotel other than proximity to KSL. We had the whole pool to ourselves. Love the infinity view. A real treat in the hot weather. Good exercise after all the food.

Love the Thai Odessey in the hotel. Another massage!

Wanted to go to Arashi Shabu-shabu but hubby said to try Seoul Garden in KSL for a change. Love the tiger prawns, coffee beef, sweetcorn, satay chicken and coffee beef. Hubby like the vegetables, diffent types of lamb and beef. The rest average. The pink lemonade and orange juice are nice. The fruits and ice cream for desserts are a delight. We ordered the mlky seafood and ginseng chicken soup base.

Premium has additional meat which you can order from a scanned link.

Walked past the rows of vending machines and delighted to see my favourite Garfield character when I was young. Gotten a Garfield toast sponge. 🥰 For RM35

Day 3
At the famous 榕树下米果条仔kway teow kia. At Ka Hoe Restaurant

Chanced upon this waiting for 38 degree onsen to open. Nice breakfast set, especially the mushroom, garlic bread and sausage. The snowy lychee and passion soda are nice too. At Babor cafe, Mount Austin.

Went over to Mount Austin 38 degree onsen spa for a package RM599 which included the following:

1.Couple photo with kimono at 38 degree onsen.
2. Food bath and scrub with sea salt.
3. Onsen Bath 45 mins
4. Desserts which is fruits and snacks
5. 1 hour body massage

I added additional massage with wooden stick and detox  essential oil at RM 276. Really energise the body. Very good service and great for overall well being.

Grabbed to Eco-palladium. Wanted to try the Japanese restaurant but it only opens at 6pm. Nice new place. Many shops are still under renovation.

Wow the sourdough is so good. So soft and matches well with the salad and smoked duck. Impressed with soil breakfast set. The rose Earl Grey cake is average though as it is not as soft. AT Soil cafe nearby eco palladium.

Soil cafe is in Eco spring. The buildings in Eco springs are so colorful with cool road signs.

Grabbed to KSL which cost near to RM50. Hubby bought some pants and a pair of swimming goggles

Went back to hotel to rest before dinner. One food which I will miss is definitely the crab and minced meat porridge. The crabs are so fresh and sweet. So is the porridge. Just that I must remind them i dont like sesame oil in my porridge. Love the cereal prawns which are so big. Hubby also took the oysters which are big and fresh. At Woon Yin seafood opposite KSL.
.

Another round of shopping at KSL. Bought some stuff from Daiso too. Packed two buns from seasons bakery and lok lol from the van outside KSL main entrance. Love the century quail egg (missed most as it is only available here), small crispy crab, fish ball, quail egg and bak kwa .

Day 4

The hotel breakfast had the same menu as two days ago so decided to take breakfast at Ah Hua Kuey Teow nearby.  Love the kway teow soup here. Very traditional. Hubby took medium with the pig kidney, abalone, pig liver , pork slice and fishballs. Mine is small with added pig liver. The fried crispy lard is so good!

The desserts are awesome. The tiramisu is rich in alcohol and is a sure must to try! Hubby also loves the chocolate cake as it is not too sweet. Love the ginger soup with Tara balls and sesame rice ball. Highly recommended! At Xuan Cafe in Taman Sentosa.

Went to JTC for foot massage. Their business was good and it was so crowded. We had mainly body massages past few days. Really need a good foot massage!

Late lunch at KSL Meng Meng roasted duck. The char siew has fats which melt in your mouth. Best meat among the three in the platter. The lotus soup and the watercress soup are not bad either.

Most relaxing area in the hotel again. Great swim in the cool pool as the day was so hot.

Going to visit the night market which starts from KSL to Grand Paragon every Monday.

The KSL pasar Malam is so crowded. Could not find the salt baked chicken. Bought my favourite corn, carrot cake , chwee kueh and queued so long for the prawn fritters.

Ordered satay at cedar point food court at the end of the pasar Malam. The mutton satay is better than the pork satay.

Tried the butter coffee which is very nice from the coffee shop next to family mart in KSL. Love the crunchy and sweet corn from the pasar Malam. The chwee kueh caipoh is so flavourful. Also took the prawn fritter. Too full to eat the rest.

The locals are still celebrating the nation's birthday 🎂 with fireworks

Day 5

Wow the pine cafe is so crowded today. A lady I met said their church retreat has more than 100. Tried the roti canai and equally disappointed. Missed the roti jala which was so much better. Last look out of the window as we will be going back to Singapore today.

Ah Ma Teochew kueh opened a branch opposite KSL. No need to grab for the yam cake any more. Was closed on Mon though.

Back to Heng Wah for Brunch. The toast are good especially the butter and kaya. However wished they had sliced the bread thinner.
Hubby love his black mee pok and my mee hoon kuih was good too. The coffee is good.

Bought some croissants from space cafe in the hotel. Checked out of hotel. It had been a good break and hubby said time flies. Indeed.

It rained as we left Johor. Took less than an hour from hotel back to home today. Gratitude.

Awesome yam cake pan fried from the packs bought from Ah Ma Teochew Kuih. Full of yam richness and not the starchy type.
I removed the caipoh and air fried them as it will pop if pan fried. I sliced every pack into 6 slices and the panfried them. It has such a crispy crust and soft yammy inside!
