Penang Day 1 to 3 Bao Sheng Durian Farm stay

Penang Day 1
Took the morning flight to Penang by SIA.

Apple yogurt, apple juice and Muffin on board flight to Penang.

Complimentary wi-fi worked very well. Just input the email and seat number.

We engaged a driver for 5 hours and he picked us up from the airport. Our first stop was the snake temple near the airport. It seems that the loss of the forest behind the temple has seen a decrease in the number of snakes.

He brought us up to Bukit Genting to catch it's beautiful view from the top.

Saw a beautiful peacock on our way down the hill.

After that we went to the popular Art container in Balik Pulau.

The container art is in the middle of a padi field!

Lovely to see a padi field again.

Next we went to a fishing village at Betong.

We wanted to eat at the Jia Siang restaurant but it was so crowded. Didn't realize it was a public holiday in Malaysia as it was Ah Gong's birthday.

Our driver recommended Mycurry Tummy Kitchen. The chicken drumstick is so big and crispy. The  curry fish head with prawns was nice too.

We went to a nearby mall to buy some snacks.

Welcome nutmeg drink at the lobby, which was also the place we did durian tasting.

Our passion hut. As it is glass all around, you will feel like you are enveloped in the forest.

There is a big fridge and TV. A kettle and hairdryer are provided.

Our room above the kitchenette with BBQ utensil and stoves.

Kenneth can make really good coffee. His coffee bean is from Myanmar. More creamy and less acidic.

Thanks for the feast! kun poh 坤宝,green skin青皮, centipede蜈蚣, hu lu胡卢, red prawn红虾. Our favourite is centipede and red prawn!

Nelli from Sweden and Omairaleonn from Chile here for a working vacation. Omairaleonn is also a raw vegan. They both love durian.

Fantastic farm tour. Learned so much about the durian type and age. If you can hardly hug the tree trunk, it's more than 30 years.

The fig leaves give shade.

Our room on top

Rambutans

Most delicious home cooked dinner.
Onion omelette

Coconut chicken which is so yummy

Spicy soy fish fillet

Hairy gourd

Meat roll (lor back)

Penang Day 2

Heavy rain the night before and had a good sleep

There is a bird nest under our room. Caught the mother flying back to feed the babies.

The durian tree viewed from our room has so many durians!

Kenneth packed char kway teow for lunch. a lot of wok hei but too spicy.

The dog laid in the middle of the road and hubby tried to get it up but it went back to sleep.

One of the durians fell in front of me. Luckily it got caught on the net. Must have a lot of numbness as it just fell.

The birdies guarding the nest.

Met a new family from HK and a gentleman from Switzerland. All durian lovers.
Today's pick. Started with two durians xiao hong, green skin, two durians hu lu, centipede and Red prawns.

Took a few snaps at the farm. Beautiful sunset blocked by the trees.

Love their home cooked dinner though I do prefer yesterday's coconut chicken which is changed to soy sauce chicken. The spicy soy fish fillets are changed to deep fried fish fillets. The onion omelette and lor bak are the same. Today's hairy gourd is fried with cucumber and carrot. There is also fried strips of sweet potatoes.

Sat with Lim family from HK again and learned from him some good food outlets we can try out in December when we visit HK.

Penang Day 3

Lovely to wake up being surrounded by the trees.

Breakfast is Nasi Lemak again.

My favourite centipede (Lipan) which has a nutty taste.

Gentleman from Switzerland staying 16 days! He is a raw vegan so durian is his favourite!

Nutmeg drink again.

New one today. D15. Sweet and creamy.

The red prawn is hubby's favourite. Not as intense as the first day. It has a wine like taste

The more wrinkles on the durian flesh indicate that it is from a more matured tree.

Met some wonderful people here. Nelli Kobela from Sweden , Omairaleonn from Chile and Grant from Australia.

Bye Bao Sheng Durian farm. You have pampered me with all the freshest organic durians and most delicious home cooked dinners for the past 3 days
 Gratitude.

Our driver picked us up from farm and made some stops before we check in to Lone pine hotel.

Audi Dream farm RM25 admission fee and RM20 for the animal feed.

At the south-western part of the island. Gertak Sanggul Tua Pek Kong Seafood.

What a feast at RM199 with all the seafood and drinks. The steamed fish, prawns, fried mantis prawn, BBQ crabs are so fresh. Forgot the name of the vegetable but it is very crunchy. Bought some mangosteen which are so much nicer and bigger at RM10. The place is so serene and you can just hear the sound of the waves rushing up the shore.

Checked in to Lone Pine Hotel at Batu Ferrangi so look at my next blog post!
