Malacca Nov 2025

First stop before Malacca - Mui Thye coffeeshop in Ayer Hitam. Needed some strong coffee in the morning. Hubby loved his pig stomach bee hoon soup. I like the big meat pao but the coffee was not as strong as I wanted.

A 4 hr ride to Malacca with half an hour stop.

Warm welcome to the Casa Del Rio hotel with a shaved ice ginger and lime dessert. The room was not ready yet so we went for lunch.

Grab car to the restaurant is less than RM7. Lunch at FUGO RYORI @ Melaka Raya.

Recommended:
Highly recommended Foie Gras with a crisp that melt in the mouth.

Average:
Tender and fresh Toro (Tuna Belly) but not as fragrant
Wagyu steak with fat that burst in your mouth

Not Recommended
Cheese Hotate - Cheese too thick. Prefer Singapore's version which is lighter.

The deco on the bed was so nicely done up by the staff to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary. Nice view of the river from the balcony. Complimentary snacks and drinks from the hotel. Spacious toilet with standing shower and bathtub. Nice decor in the room too.

The library has complimentary coffee, tea and cookies. You can enjoy reading the books or play the board game. There is an infinity pool with a bar on level 3.

Ordered via Grab the famous BUNGA RAYA POPIAH with passion fruit and waterchestnut drinks. No bad but think they added too much sweet sauce. The crunch of the fried lard made it unique.

Gotten a stick of corn, fried cempuduk and rambutan from the Tuesday Pasar Malam. Really love Malaysia's corn as it is so crunchy and sweet.

Grab the car to the Oceanarium in Shore Shopping Gallery. Not as awesome as Siam in Thailand but they took nice photos.

The Oceanarium at Shore Shopping Mall. Too bad the sky bridge is closed cos it rained earlier.

Took a grab car to Bei Zhen, one of the popular Teochew Chinese restaurant.

Ordered shark fin soup, steamed fish in Teochew style and Garlic spinach.

Nice to see the lighted candle in our balcony after shopping at Aeon. Managed to get my shoes from Medfeet as well as some fruits from the supermarket and cookies from Famous Amos.

The river looked dazzling from the balcony. Will book a river cruise from the hotel tomorrow.

Day 2

Breakfast in the hotel. Doesn't look tempting so grab to Bukit Cina for breakfast.

Leong Heng Kopitiam 良興茶餐室 where the famous trishaw yam and chee cheong fun is found. The yam cake is brown in colour. Still prefer Singapore's version for Chee Cheong Fun and love JB Ah Mah kuih yam cake as its richer and has dried shrimp with bits of yam. Also ordered the Wanton mee and packed the pineapple tarts.

Walked along Lorong Bukit Cina

Visited the Princess Hang Li Poh's well (San Poh well). Discovered a lot of preservation work, including the biodiversity of the surrounding area, in Bukit Cina.a.

Walked past a wet market

At Teo Seng restaurant for teochew porridge. Love the meatball though its a bit oily. Thr salted veg and long cans are good too. Didnt like the egg with preserved raddish as it is sweet instead of salty. Free flow complimentary tea and water!

At Dataran Pahlawan shopping mall. Hubby needed hot milk and the staff at HWC coffee was kind to make him one. I ordered Spanish coffee which was nice.

.

Gotten our screen protector and type C cables.

Massage at LUBNA SPA & Reflexology. Their massage skills are good.

Grabbed a car to Straits history museum. The fried rice is good and fragrant but the diced luncheon meat ate very dry. Hubby said the curry chicken rice is not too bad. A bit shocked that the pie tee is filled with acar (sweet and source prickled veg). Red bean with bubur hitam is very lemak and

You can do your batik painting here.

Walked to san su gong at Jonker street. Love the cendol with red bean, attap seed jelly and gulamelaka syrup on the shaved ice. Bought my favourite 3 in 1 coffee as well as the chicken biscuits.

Met a group of tourists in front of Fan Bing Bing mural.

Walked back to the hotel 5 mins away.

Melaka Sultanate Watermill on the opposite bank.

Grabbed to Mahkota Parsde as it was raining. Managed to buy a wallet and a bag.

Grabbed over to Pak Putra Tandoori. My Goodness the naan is so good. Fluffy and soft. Both Orginal and garlic are good though hubby prefered uthe original. Tandoori chicken was still as good.

Worse durian I have taken opposite my hotel at LAIFA Durian Land 来发记鸡场街 @ Malacca Jonker Street. Ordered one black thorn and at a bite, its hard. Look good and shocked it does not taste well..
Changed another and realised the top is soft. It was the part that was in between the durian. The durian was also not creamy and did not have small seed and its worse than those I had in Singapore.  Not cheap at RM130 plus. My advise is to avoid totally.

Will go for the river cruise tomorrow. The boat can pick us up from the hotel!

Nice scent in the room

Day 3

Excellent fishball noodle at Kopitiam Tanka near the hotel. Hubby said their dried Bee hoon is superb. I like the clear soup with kway tiao. You can choose the ingredients too which is like our Yong Tau Hu.  The big springy fishball is good.

One unique choice is century egg with fish paste deep fried.

Grab a car to Baba Kaya. Wanted to walk but it rained. The 3 coloured kaya is unique. Like the light green one most as it taste like kueh salat very popular and is fully packed. Coconut Luwak is very strong! Waiting for the vintage museum next day to open at 10am 😅

The cafe opened up the level 2 and I saw one of the phone I used to have when I was young. If the number is 9 it would take a longer time for the dial to turn back before your turn the next number! Nice view of the river from level 2.

Went over to Trash and Treasure discovery but its closed. It will be opened at 10am.

Walked to the Melaka fort ruins nearby and met one whole level of sec 1 students from a local school.

Sec 1 students from local school.

Didnt realised that it was prep for shooting. Thought it is a group of tourists waiting for the jet ski and boat ride.

Walked along the river till an abandoned kampiong. Luckily grab car can still find us

Very nice and fragrant chicken balls with tender chicken at Tiong Hwa Hainan̈ chicken rice.. The roasted is fragrant whereas the steamed chicken is so tender and fresh. The complimentary radish and carrot soup is a nice touch to the meal. The beansprouts are fat and crunchy.

Decided to walk to buy the popular Putu Pirang Melaka.

All for the putu piring.@putu piring melaka. Still the best.

The walk was so long that my leg ache and I needed a foot massage so we grabbed a car to Mahkota Parade.

Shopped at many malls as it rained whole day.
Food of assorted standard at Jonker street kopitiam near to the hotel. 5 stars for the hor fun with lots of wok hei. 4 stars for the hand made mee hoon kueh with clear stock. Though the oyster egg is good, it paled against Penang and JB Meldrum walk. The staff here are very nice and warm. 4 star for atmosphere as it gets very crowded and hard to find a seat though its weekday and raining hard.

It rained whole day! The river cruise is cancelled. Enjoying movies in the room with very fragrant lemon grass essential oil.

Day 4
