Ode to the sun

I simply could not contain my love for the sun.. so amazing with the new creation each day and I wrote this ode.... If you have seen my earlier posts - it has been an inspiration for my art.

Maritime Museum Learning journey

179 Sec 1 students and 12 teachers went for this learning journey on 24 Oct. The students visited the harbour where the historical ships are parked.They watch the Bao Chuan show and explored the exhibits at the Souk Gallery and the Temasek Gallery. Their favourite - the Typhoon Theatre!

The shortlisted teams will be determined according to the number of Facebook “Likes” that the team receives.  The number of “Likes” also constitutes 30% of each team’s final score.  The remaining 70% will include the number of questions/tasks completed correctly and the time taken by the team to complete the journey.  Voting will begin on 8 Oct and close on 20 Oct (11.59 pm).

Teachers' Day Reflection

Received a sms from one of my former student, Hui Ting, and I am so happy to hear from her that she got into the NUS Overseas College Program to Stanford college and internship in Silicon Valley. A teacher's greatest achievement is to see her student do well in life.  I received the Caring Teacher Award - an award given from the nomination by the students. Though I am not the only teacher who received this award, I am happy to receive the award as it is recognition by our students. A word of thanks to the many students who has also made my day from all their dedications posted below.

Joy exercise after food

Joy will never fail to entertain us with her almost human like actions... here you see how she stole a bite of our noodle as well as use her foot (just like we use our hand) to pick up crackers and crunch on them. She picked up a wooden toy ribbon and used it for weight lighting.. maybe a desperate attempt to lose weight as my husband said she has such a big belly!

Maritime Museum @ Sentosa

The Humanities Department Teachers visited the Maritime Museum @ Sentosa on 17 Aug. 

We had our lunch @ the Malaysia Street next to the Universal Studio - near to the Maritime Museum

Walking down the the different ports and experiencing what these places have to offer in the different parts of the world. You can touch the different exhibits - very different from other museums.

A group photo - you can get your "passport" stamp at the different ports. You can also make your own paper ship and also wayang kulit along the ports - forsee that the students will also be very excited in these activities

Butterfly Garden Design Competition

Presentation of cheques to the winners was held at the Sharp's Corporate Office on 25 Oct. The official prize presentation will be in mid-Nov with the media event at Alexandar Canal Linear Park as the first prize winner's design has been realised at the Alexandar Canal Linear Park - they have certainly made their mark and brought pride to the school!

Thanks to Mr Adrian Tay for providing the information for them to take part in this competition as part of their CIP efforts. The winners have also donated part of their winnings to the Needy Pupils' Fund. The first prize winner has also won for the school  a Sharp Plasmacluster Ion Generator (worth up to $1,999)!

So happy for our students - they won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize in the butterfly garden design competition. Especially for my form class as they won the 1st prize! Prize  http://butterflygarden.sharp.com.sg/
