Combined Unit Archery with Compassvale Secondary

Our RCY unit had the combined unit Archery with Compassvale Secondary. This will definitely help to build up the CCA portfolio for the cadets as well as contributing to our EUA points. We need to sustain the EUA (Excellent Unit Award) Gold - we already had Gold for 2 years and Silver for the 2 years before that. You can click here for more photos:

The RCY Video award results will be out on Monday - I hope that they get into the final and win in this competition. We really need to win in this competition as there is no more banner design or sculpture making competition for the World Red Cross day celebration which we often do very well in.We were the runner up and champions for 2 years. We spent the whole day on Tuesday working on the video. My most sincere thanks to Chin Kheng for staying with us as we had to rush the project without lunch.
We will be the hosting venue for the World Red Cross Day celebration cum enrolment day for the East District. A bit strange as we actually belong to the North District. It seems that HQ was unable to get any school in the East to host the event. We are incorporating the Project Love on the day as well in the afternoon and I must start preparing for the publicity to encourage people to donate certain food and medical items for the elderly.
Of course we hope to do well in the Current affairs competition like last year - we were the champion for North District last year and I can forsee that it would be tougher this year!
As for the First Aid Competition, it will be held quite late this year - 15 Nov 2008. We will just be back from our exchange program to Bangkok and I wonder whether the cadets will be ready for it? I must really prepare them the weeks before.
As for the archery event today - I must say that the cadets are not as enthusiastic as before. I think we have to plan for something else- maybe dragon boating? I must say I am also quite disappointed and upset with my 2 leaders today. I just hope that the Sec 3s who are taking over will not disappoint me. I had spent years watching the unit grow and I must say I am proud that the unit has achieved much as well as the cadets.
