Day 2 and 3 in Batam

The free internet connection was extremely slow so I did not post anything yesterday.

Guess what - I met one of my Sec 1 student when I was having breakfast in the hotel yesterday - what a small world! The breakfast spread was ok - esp the waffle.

We had lunch at Rumanya - local dishes such as goreng ayam, yong tau hoon beehoon and a sausage set. We bought quite a lot of clothes for our children and then we went for a hair cut and wash. The hair cut was only IRP7000 which is S$1! I decided to dye my hair as well as it is only IRP147,000 with the hair cut and wash. We had dinner at the hotel's steakhouse. The Angus steak was tender and delicious. I like the appertizer which is baked potato with tomato and cheese on top. I had nasi goreng - not as good as the street stall's and 10 times more costly! Also ordered sashimi and some late night supper which included satay - nice and tender but too much of a feast!
We went to the Vihara Budhi Bharkti temple (Tua Pek Kong Bio) and then to DC Mall. Another round of shopping with more shoes and clothings for the family - I must say the prices of items sold there were really cheap. The lunch inside a restaurant in the mall was also very economical - I ordered fried bee hoon and lontong with drinks all within IRP50,000!

However, I must say I am quite disappointed with Winspa's spa package. I had heard so much about it from the internet and booked a session. It was so pricey at IRP805,000 (around sS118)! I think it was much cheaper at the Harmoni hotel where we had the spa in 2007 - the bathtub was so much bigger and the flower bath etc were so romantic. I also enjoyed the body scrub at Formosa hotel last year for 3 hours and half the price! As for the massage, hubby still prefer the one at Sports Massage centre - only half the price -IRP420,ooo for the 2 of us for 3hours! However I must say the scrub and the masking did make my skin feel supersoft.. I think my greatest joy was finding the mobile stall just outside winspa selling fried fritters. The goreng pisang wasn't impressive but the one with cabbage was fantastic and so was the tahu goreng - only IRP1000 (15ct) each!

Equally disappointed with dinner at Golden Prawn - paid S$95 for the meal and was not impressed. Should have had dinner in the hotel - just realised that there is lobster in sky lounge for S$30 - almost the same price as Golden Prawn but baked like what we wanted! We took some cocktails and light snack there - the view was fascinating from the lounge! The photos I took at the sky lounge and in my room with my new hairstyle!
