Flew by Scootbiz this time round - love the priority boarding and leg space on board.
Check in to Hotel Dua in Kaohsiung which is near to the
Formosa Boulevard (高雄捷. 運美麗島站). The dome of light 光之穹顶 in the MRT is such a spectacular piece of art.

Love the room facilities - the toilet bowl will auto open and close. There is also water cleansing system - very high tech
Beautiful dome of light at the Formosa Boulevard (高雄捷. 運美麗島站). Our hotel is outside exit 6 and we walked towards exit 1 and ate some local dishes.
We bought the KMRT pass and took the KMRT to Fongshan station and walked to 城湟廟 and Fengyi Academy风仪书院. Then we took a cab to 莲池潭 Lotus pond, 春秋塔 Spring Autumn Pavilion, 龙虎塔 Dragon Tiger Tower and 左營站 to collect the High speed rail tickets which I have booked online to Taipei.

Kaohsiung Day 2
Great breakfast buffet spread at the hotel.
Took a cab to 駁二藝術特區. Had a light snack in an eatery to see whether the rain will stop but it didn't....
It was still raining heavily so we took another cab to Gushan Ferry Pier terminal to take the the ferry to 旗津Chichin Island. We got to the island in less than 10 mins!
Then we asked a cab driver to bring us around for NT1000- first stop to 砲台 where we could see the black sand beach. Can't believe there are people surfing when it is raining and the wave is so strong. The cliff and shore viewed from the end of the 燈塔星空隧道 was so amazing.
Too bad it was raining so I just took some photos at the 彩红教堂 rainbow chapel then to the 旗津老街.
We went back to 旗津老街 had lunch at 鸭角 recommended by the taxi driver. True enough very good seafood lunch that cost us less than S$50! Love the crunch of the vegetable 山穌which goes well with the ikan bilis. Though small, the prawns are very sweet The fish head is cooked in soup and the fish steamed – the meat is so soft and fresh, it literally melts in the mouth.
Walked down 旗津老街 and bought some street food. Went to the 天后官 and the coin I throw went right into the pot!
Hubby said we should take the cab directly back to hotel and
my goodness it took us almost an hour to reach our hotel! Must remember to take
the ferry which is faster.
We went to 六合夜市
and hubby took snake stuff at 今日蛇園 and then we had foot massage.
Dinner at the night market was good with a very gigantic oyster. Love the lobster and fried rice too.

We went to this roast duck shop recommended. The popiah skin not as good but the duck esp the fried one was so tasty.

Kaohsiung Day 3
Took the
high speed rail to Chiayi and went to the 台南市白河 台影文化城. Too bad it was raining heavily again.
It was raining so heavily we were trapped in the studio as
the bridge across the river was submerged under the fast flowing current and
was too dangerous to go down. Had lunch at the studio and the soup was so nice.
The studio was so good as to offer tea and coffee free as we were trapped. The costume was also free for the first set and extended to another set. We paid NT100 for one set and also took photos which cost us only NT400 for 3 but lowered to NT400 for 4 for our last set. Nice taking photos in ancient Chinese costume.
Took some pictures of the studio - interesting set up mainly of the film set in the 60s. Many local drama series were filmed here.
Our taxi driver took us see the 白河lotus
pond - captivated by the colourful lotus in bloom! Took some pictures of the studio - interesting set up mainly of the film set in the 60s. Many local drama series were filmed here.
Then he brought us to see a nature park called 小南海 followed by two old streets which I forgot the names. He also brought us to a swan lake and 八角楼 eight corner tower.
Took the high speed rail back to Kaohsiungi and took the love
boat cruise along Love river爱河.

Went to the sun valley 太陽谷 where we could also see the 鸡冠山 and 新养女湖, Wushan mud volcano 烏山頂泥火山.
A lot of nice food at 旗山老街.
Our driver brought us to buy the roast duck which is popular in Kaohsiung.
Our driver dropped us at the night market near our hotel and we had our dinner at 六合夜市 after a body massage. Packed the grilled prawns and cuttlefish back to our hotel for supper as well.

Kaohsiung Day 5
Wanted to try the 大圓環雞肉飯 , 三代春捲
but was not opened yet so I took the MRT to the next stop which is Central
Park. So relaxing with so many birds and plants. The MRT station itself is very
attractive. Took the breakfast at the hotel again. Impressed by the spread.
Checked out of hotel and took a cab to Zuoying high speed rail station. Pass through so many padi fields as we took the hsr to Taipei.
