Brunei Twinning Programme

Was in Brunei with the students for the twinning programme and was featured in their news.
I have uploaded the posts for the 5 days on https://efssbrunei2018.blogspot.com/

On the  local newspaper Borneo Bulletin 5 July 2018.

We were featured on the Borneo Bulletin online on 6 July.

Besides the Borneo Bulletine, we were also featured on MOE Brunei instagram 'infodept.bn' - Jabatan Kerajaan Negara Brunei and an online newspaper article on the information department website.

Our schools, Our stories Photo Story contest

Participated in the above competition but did not win anything so sharing here what I have submitted. Fieldwork is an essential part of Geography which allows the students to see the authenticity of their learning. I remember that when I started teaching in 1991, I brought the students to Sentosa and carried out coastal studies at Siloso beach and the wave-cut platform near to Fort Siloso.

Photo below was taken when I had the fieldwork with students in my first school, Rangoon Secondary School. The students are already in their 40s. Time flies. You can still see the ranging pole next to me and the ferry terminal which we took this picture was already demolished.

2018 GEM issue 2

Proud that our coastal fieldwork is featured in the GEM (Geography Education Matters) publication.
The two classes of full geography students went to the East Coast Park on 7th and 14th April to carry out Geographical investigation on how coastal processes, human activities and management affects our coast. Using ICT, we had managed to complement our field equipment to better enhance our data collection.
Thankful to Mr Ng (HOD humanities), June and Andrea. We are all part of the team which makes it possible in making learning authentic and relevant for our students through fieldwork.

The 2nd time my photograph is featured in the publication.

Garden by the Bay

Learning Journey to the Garden by the Bay organised by Ngee Ann Polytechnic for students taking the Advance Elective Module on tourism.

The students visited the cloud forest and flower domes in an effort to experience a free and easy tour as compared to a guided tour to the Esplanade the day before.

Visit to Google HQ Singapore

Went to Google HQ as part of the learning journey for the digital  insights workshop by Innova  JC. Really grateful to Lucian from Google HQ for bringing us to the bus bay. There was a miscommunication between the driver and his office and he thought the Google HQ is in Sentosa. At the end we waited almost half an hour.

Lots of food for the staff - almost every corner has a snack bar... even a barrister to make coffee in one. One of my former students, Andrew, commented he gained 6 kg in his 6 weeks project there for health screening.
