12.30 to 6 p.m. Malacca Historical Tour

Our tour guide for the historical tour was Mr Sami. Walking down Jonker street - Pineapple tarts making demo, largest pineapple tart, bound feet shoes, chinese temple (Cheng Hoon Teng Temple), mosque (Masjid Kling), Indian temple. Visit to Cheng Ho Museum.

6 p.m. Check in Hotel Emperor Melaka - 17th storey. Some of the rooms had problems such as only hot water and no cold water. Very low water flow for the tap in the basin. One of the toilet's flush system did not work. As for my room, the tap cannot be closed completely and we called the maintenance. The technician came and said it is OK to let the water flow. So for 3 days and 2 nights, the water was flowing non-stop in the bath tub! The lifts are small and thank God we are on the higher floors. The lifts were normally packed when it reached the lower floors and the hotel guests have to wait for a long time. However the view was good from my room and I can see the sunset on the sea.

7.15 p.m. Diinner with Malacca Red Crescent Students and bonding games. Bonding at Red Crescent Melaka branch. Red Crescent members from the secondary schools in Malacca e.g. Infant Jesus Convent, Catholic High, St Francis Institution and Gajah Barang High School.
Speech by Mr Rudra. Got to meet Mr Lim Sze Huat, Teo and Penny as well as representatives from the different schools. Most of them are the president or vice-president of their schools and I must say that I am impressed by their confidence and ability to come forward to coordinate the activities.

16th Nov 2007:

7 a.m. Breafast at Hotel Emperor
8.30 a.m. Check out of hotel.
9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Kampong activities and lunch. Our guide for Kampong Cantik is Shanti. Silat Display followed by a traditional game of Gasing. The students also get to see how rubber trees are tapped and the produce from an oil palm tree. The students were also shown the different fruit trees and the padi field. The students were then shown the different ways in wearing a sarong as well as making a ketuput and playing tongkat.
After the Kampong lunch, we were supposed to visit a chocolate outlet but it was closed. I can see that many of the students were quite disappointed. Just wondering where went wrong with the communication? Anywhere the chocolate outlet does not look as good as the one I went to in 2003 - I must go back to my files and see where that is!
We reached school at around 6.30 p.m.
