Spectrum of the Seas Day 1 and 2

Day 1 Embarkation

Just realised that suite guests have priority boarding first followed by the key guests. Group A is star class followed by Group B sea and sky class. After that Group C which is the group with the Key. We were able to board at 11.30am.

Our 13th cruise to celebrate our 30th ROM and 29th wedding anniversary.

Arrived at MBCC early at 10.30am and thank God I paid for the key as the queue was very long for those who are not suite or key guests.

REALISED THAT SUITE GUESTS HAVE PRIORITY EMBARKATION OVER KEY GUESTS SO WE SWAPPED THE KEY for SUITE CARD WHEN WE WENT IN.

We approached the staff holding the Key sign when we arrived at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre and was given a key card.

We went to get breakfast at the cafe as our check in time was 11am.

After we were called to board at 11.30am, we went through the immigration automated gate and entry was fast. Then our passports were collected onboard. It was given back to us the day before we disembarked.

We carried on our luggage and left it at Wonderland restaurant which is on the right when you enter the boat as gangway is at deck 5. One of the benefits of Key is they will bring your carry on luggage to your room by 2.30pm. We were told our room will be ready at 1.30pm.

The Key's lunch was at main dining room at deck 4 at 12 noon. Hubby said the steak was very good. My fish was fresh but no wow factor. Mushroom soup with truffle oil was good. Bread was average cos it was cold. They served lemonade. Our wait staff Salvador was awesome.

Went over to silver dining which is accessible by suite guests at deck 14. The quality of the food here was much better. Orange and apple juice here is also better than the lemonade and fruit punch offered in windjammer.

Checking out the ship.

The see-through walkway next to skypad. Be cautious. The wind is very strong here when the ship is moving.

The only time to take photo at the casino is when it is closed. It is super crowded when at seas.

Our junior suite is on deck 9 and it was ready at 1.30 pm. Our sea pass cards were placed in a sealed envelope outside the room. You can see the key logo printed on the sea pass.

Letters showing show time, key and gold member's benefit placed in the room.

Love RC production shows! Definitely something which cannot be missed. Silk Road, Effectors and Showgirls are amazing!

There is a power point next to one side of the bed only (US plug). Would be great if there are points on both sides to charge our phones.

Love that the wardrobe is big and have plenty of hangers.

The safe box is tiny so we did not use it as our passports had been collected by the ship.

Simply love that the toilet is separated from the bathroom. There is a also another sink here.

There is a separate shower area from the bath tub.

Love the coffee maker provided. Unlike Genting dream, they did not provide the milk so I ordered milk and kept it in the fridge from the room service breakfast order. The room service breakfast is complimentary so I would normally order the milk to keep for the night and some fruits like banana and apple which I can keep in the room. Most importantly a jug of hot water or tea which also come with a jug of hot water. I will keep the water and let it cool so that I can pour it into the coffee maker or use it for our daily consumption as 2 bottles of water were provided only for the first day.

I have ordered the wine and and cheese platter pre-cruise for around SGD36.

Nice of them to provide the fruit platter free. Not sure whether it is for the junior suite or my Gold membership.

Dinner at Main Dining Room Deck 4. Our waiter was Leroy and he wonderful in recommending the cocktails peach Margarita. Reserved traditional dining at 5.15pm during booking and was shocked to find it changed to my timing on the card. Luckily they managed to change for me to traditional dining with fixed time at 5.15pm. The queue for my time dining was madness.

Love the escargot, broiled lobster and peach margarita. Our main waiter, Leroy, was so good as he taught us how to drizzle some butter oil onto the lobster. Creme Brulee and royal cheesecake for dessert. Fell in love with the paeach margarita which Leroy recommended.

Additional charge for the lobster at USD29.95 but totally worth it!

Decided to check out the silver dining.

The dessert platter was awesome! The yee sheng which is smoked salmon salad was nice too.

The crab cake was nice at first bite but became a bit too salty for me to finish it

No wow factor for the fried calamari.

The room was ready at 1.30pm. Pleasantly surprised that they gave a plate of fruits. I ordered the cheese plate and red wine pre-cruise.

Love the coffee maker. Strong coffee but tastewise I preferred the ones in the suite for Genting Dream.

Love the separate shower and bath tub.

Love that the toilet is separated from the bathroom. Another sink which we can use too for the junior suite.

The hair dryer is in the drawer below the TV.
The fridge is hidden below it too. Bathrobe available for suite.

Some of the benefits of the Key listed on the letter in the room.

A letter showing Gold member benefits

The snacks here are complimentary too.

The bun was ok but not the spring roll. Shocked that I could not bite through it.

Gotten the hotdog from the dog house at seaplex. Very juicy and nice!

Random photos around the ship.

Love the Silk Road performance at 270. The reason for buying the key. Early entry for best seats 45mins before show. There are 2 separate queues, one for the key guests and they let us in first.

The silk road performance was awesome!

Awesome live band performance by the Kinectic Band. Melted my heart.

Ordered late supper cos we wanted to try the pizza but they don't send only one slice 😅. Verdict: Pizza was good but Chicken wing bad as they poured so much BBQ sauce over it  Also ordered cos we wanted milk and tea. The hotdog from dog house was better.

Bought the magnetic hook and use it in the room to hang our hats and plastic bags as the walls are metallic.

Ordered room service breakfast from a card which you can hang on the door before 3am. Ordered milk and tea cos it comes with a jug of hot water. I used the water as I am lazy to boil mine. Bottled water was provided only on day 1.

Day 2
The sea was very foggy.

Very strong wind at the balcony.

Breakfast at Silver Dining

Random photos around the ship.

Hubby doesn't like the crowd at activities.

Went to star moment to make a pop-up card. Hubby waited but was not interested in making one. I think I only took 15 mins making the card.

Away from the crowd at Solarium and Silver lounge.

Hubby said lunch at Silver dining is good. The food here is better than the other RC cruise we had been. Totally agree!

Took a selfie at the balcony as the ship approached Penang.

Went to the Music Hall at 2.30pm and the staff there brought us down to deck 2 for priority disembark under the Key.

The ship docked at Swettenham Pier, Penang. Drizzling with strong wind so I have to remove my hat as it was almost blown away.

A warm welcome at the pier.

Many taxi drivers touting.

Grabbed to Gurney Plaza to buy a earphone as hubby forgot to pack.

Long wait for the hairy crab and dumpling. Too bad the Johor outlet at Bukit Indah is closed as it's much better. The chilli with dried shrimp was so nice and I ate a lot while waiting.

Decided not to tour Penang as we will be back in June next year for a longer stay and it was still drizzling.

The chilli is so nice I took a few servings.

Bye Penang. See you again next June.

Love the fried rice from the live station today at Silver dining. I chose prawns, scallop, egg and spring onion. Hubby's sirloin steak is equally fabulous. Charred outer crust but inside is soft and tender. I picked poached prawns and it was so fresh too! Hubby also tried the lamb rack and Turkey. Gotten the papaya salad and tomato sauce too.

Bought pop corn at USD2.90 while watching the Effectors at Royal Theatre.

So impressed by the use of special effects and even drones for the Effectors show.

Shocked that our ship was still docked at Penang after the show at 8 plus. Seems like there are still 4 unaccounted for from deck 6 and they were paging for them. Hope they are ok and that our trip to Phuket will not be delayed. However if they are late cos they lost count of time then it will be rather irresponsible to make more than 4700 guests wait for them.

Took some pizzas Carribbean dream from Sorrento

World cup shown on channel 27. Croatia Vs Brazil
