Mariner of the Seas day 3 and Langkawi

Finally arrived at Langkawi at 8am.

We ordered breakfast in the room - as mentioned we preferred the spread at Windjammer. Moreover the scrambled egg and sausage are so cold.... :(

There are many taxi available at the pier - however they will quote a high price of around MR350 for 6 hours - just walk further up to the car park and you can get a taxi for 6 hr at a cheaper price. We engaged the service of Afiz at MR180 for 6hr tour (though we gave him MR200 at the end as he was very good with the tour).

Our first stop at Oriental village to take the cable car.

our glass bottom cable car - MR85 per pax express lane so there was no queue!

Going up to the 2nd highest mountain in Langkawi.

The seven wells waterfall viewed from the cable car.

Breath taking Panorama view from the mountain at 700m above sea level.

Photo at MR20 from the mountain top station

Photo at MR30 as the person mentioned it is from a different company at the base station.

He brought us to watch the crocodile show at 1115am.

Very nice nasi lemak at the crocodile farm

As it was still very early he took us to the Kilim Mangrove Cruise. The 1 hour cruise is MR250 for the whole boat so it is more economical if you have more people on the boat but hubby prefers not to share.

Our first stop was the bat cave

A monkey robbed a tourist of her potato chips.

going into the limestone cave

hermit crab in the mangrove

aerial roots exposed as the tide is low

some tourists prefer kayaking

eagles flying above our boat

Our second stop at the fish farm

the boy actually put his hand into the mouth of the stingray to feed it

Poor puffer fish- its so big but if they pick it up and show to every tourist, I doubt it will live long...
our driver highly recommended this restaurant in Langkawi

nice ambience

tasty fish steamed in Nonya style

love the dry butter tiger prawns - but this is too expensive
MR110 for 2? more expensive than the MR91 fish.

The famous Eagle square

Our driver helped us to find the best goreng pisang - my favourite banana fritters. love the curry puff too.

Back at the pier at 4 pm

Beautiful sunset taken from the ship

Booked a table at Chops Grille steakhouse. The charge is US$35 per person. A bit disappointed that oysters have been taken off the menu.

love the warm bread

Best soup on board - the mushroom soup is thick and creamy scented with white truffle oil

hubby's salad

pan-roasted jumbo scallops

colossal shrimp salad

Dungeness crab and shrimp cake- most popular delight

Additional charge of US$18 for the dry NY steak. We were shocked at the size of the fillet - 3 times more than my 6 once.

My petite Mignon with red wine reduction  was very tender.

The spinach below the grill fish is nice! However the fish was not very fresh.

We chose 3 side dishes and we love the spinach!
nice cheese cake

Formal night tonight but decided to try the Chops Grille instead of main dining.

Went to the promenade to watch the 70s Musical tribute with the RC Singers Laura and Mathieu. Great vocal cord! This was followed by the 70s dancing in the street disco party featuring Macho Men which sent the crowd going wild , esp the Korean ladies!

After that we went to the Savoy theatre for a great show - Headliner show time starring ballroom forever at 1030 pm.

We got the cocktail of the day again and this time round blue island!

We ordered room service for late night supper - salmon baguette and pepperoni pizza.
