2025 Diamond Princess Day 1 and Embarkation

Booked a 16 nights cruise on Diamond Princess with port stops in Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam fro. 7 to 23 Dec 2025. The cruise embarkation was very different from previous cruises as the Marina Bay cruise centre has just been renovated. Alighted somewhere at the carpark to drop off the luggage. Then we were directed over to main building for security check followed by immigration. There was a separate line for suites and Elite guests. A breeze through check-in to collect the medallion with a 10 mins wait. We arrived at the carpark 11 plus and were onboard around 12 noon.

There is a separate queue for Suite and Elite guests.

Up the gangway to the ship!

Passports were collected and the use of Medallion for check-in was fast.

Hubby was hungry and we went to Horizon court for the buffet first. Spread seemed small but some of the dishes are very nice such as the chicken, vegetable and soup. The buffet counters were the same on both sides of Horizon court. I would definitely prefer the buffet spread on RC cruises.

We went to the back of Horizon court and saw Genting Dream approaching the pier.

Was onboard Genting Dream in 2017. Pleasant cruise with VIP treatment too. The rooms are big! The food in their Chinese restaurant is the best! http://mrslilylee.blogspot.com/2017/12/genting-dream-cruise-day-1-and-2.html?m=1

We watched the performance of the guitarist and vocal,  Ian Frost, at the Grand plaza. Definitely better shows on Princess than on Genting Dream.

We went for lunch again at Sant Fe, which is the reserve dining for suite guests. Service was great. Hubby loves his tenderloin a lot. The French fries was awesome. I found the patty a bit dry but the bacon was good for my burger. A lot of people recommended the orange souffle which is offered on day 1 but I felt its a bit too sweet. Paradise punch cocktail was very good and hubby took Pinoit Noir red wine. Wine and cocktails are inclusive in the premier package.

Half of Sante Fe dining room is used for reserve dining, one of the perks of suites and reserve mini-suite. The menu is the same as main dining except for one special item for dinner. We could walk in any time without reservations. Service is exceptional.

Went to check-in our muster station outside club fusion and then checkout our room.

Ample space on the dressing table. I am able to use two travel adaptors to charge my devices.

The hair dryer is attached to the wall. I didnt quite like it as it is not strong enough to dry long hair.

Good to have 2 TVs. One facing the bedroom and the other facing the living area. Quite a lot of movies available as well as ESPN. Hubby watched the premier league. We watched quite a lot of movies and the love boat drama series.

Large table at the balcony if we want to dine at the balcony.

There is a universal travel plug near the bed on the desk.

There is a USB charging on the lamp by the side of the beds.

The safe box is the biggest I have seen in a cruise ship.

There are water jets on the bath tub but I did not use it as its cold.

Love that the bath tub is separated from the standing shower.

My stateroom steward is Garry. He brought in a bottle of sparking wine and gave us his contact. He had been an excellent room steward. Our room was right at the back behind us.

Room service brought in the fruit basket and canapes. There is a complementary mini bar set up with 2mini vodka, 2 mini ginger, 2 mini scotch, 2 mini cognac, 2 mineral water bottle, 2 sparkling mineral worse, 2 yokohama beer, 2 asahi beer, 2 sprites and 2 coke.

The fruit basket is replenished upon request. However in the last few days, there was a shortage of banana. We love the sweet red grapes and that was replenished regularly. A perk of the suite.

We could request for the canapes but I only did so 3 times as we had too much food.

He left a letter with regards to our ports arrival formalities as well as the itinerary for this cruise and the daily patter.

We watched the sail away from the room.

Love the balcony at the aft. Though the cabin was partially obstructed due to the beams, it did not affect the view at all. Beautiful wake view.

At Sabatini for dinner. It is a speciality dining which is included under premier package. The bread garlic cheese and focaccia were good Appetiser Tuscan soup Ribollita and Insalita Mista salad were equally good though I felt the soup was a bit salty.
The Arancini Al Tartufa which is Italian fried rice with cheese was very good, better than the one we had at Anthem of the Sea.

I had fried prawn and calamari which I find too salty. Hubby like his tradition Italian seafood stew of mussel and prawn. Hubby also ordered Futteucine al Tartufo e Pamigiano and the pan seared sea bass was awesome. Very crispy at the edge and fresh.

Love the chef speciality dessert. I think we were so full and can hardly walk. 😅 hubby said it is a five star dining experience.

We went to the theatre for the 7.15pm show on the Bloom, a performance with the Seventh Wonder on Fleetwood Mac songs.

The cruise director said there are 2737 guests onboard and more than half are Americans followed by Australian. There are only 51 Singaporeans onboard.

Awesome performance by Bloom and the Seventh wonder on Fleetwood Mac songs.

At Wheelhouse bar enjoying the music. Ordered coffee, hot chocolate and fruits. Let's see how fast the drinks and fruits will arrive. Oceannow delivery make use of the medallion to locate us. It took less than 10 mins!

Love the music by guitarist and vocal Ian Frost. What touched me are those who are on the dance floor. I am pretty sure each couple has a story to tell, with many years treasuring each other's company.

Ordered room service as hubby needed warm milk and they gave him one cup. I was shocked as I told them to also give me 2 pack of milk thinking it is the 250ml pack and they delivered such a big 1 litre pack. The cheese cake is awesome. However the chicken noodle soup is too salty.
