Celebrity Solstice Day 8 Nha Trang & Day 9 Hue

Day 8 Nha Trang

Was a bit worried in the morning as there was light rain. We have engaged all our Vietnam private tours with Lily (same name as me) from UPtravel. You can WhatsApp her +84964001933 too.

Our pilot boat guiding the ship.

We waited at Michael's club to be escorted down to the gangway for the tender boat.

Boarded our tender boat. Excited to be able to go to Nha Trang!

Arrived at the pier. There were many taxi waiting outside.

Mr Duy, our guide in Nha Trang.

Breakfast at a local restaurant. The pho has a stronger beef soup base. Only 50k dong. Equally nice! Mr Duy gotten for us the local original coffee at only 20k dong each. So much more fragrant! Best hot coffee on our Vietnam trip.

Chong Promontory Rocks husband and wife rock. Nice performance of the traditional instrument at  Hong Chong Promontory. Decided not to go down as it started raining.

It started to rain so we decided not to go to the rock areas as it could be slippery and dangerous.

We stopped at a prawn farm. The prawns are from the sea and get trapped in the flooded field.

At Ninh Hoa to see the salt field. Stopped at a lotus field. There was a flood recently and the lotus were destroyed.

At the salt field. Sea water is pumped into the field. They will then let the sun dry it and then you can see they will pile it and cover it with a blue cover. Oct to Jan not a good season to visit as it's the rainy season. We were not able to see the workers at work.

Nice local snack Banh Can. I prefer the ones with squid and quail egg. But good to try the mixed one which has egg base. The charcoal smell is so good! The pork cake and dessert agar agar were nice too.

This agar agar like snack was very yummy

A short visit to the new village market and saw a dog eating vegetables. I was so tempted to buy the fruits but we can't bring that up the ship.

At Ngoc Trai Restaurant. Going to try their live steamed garoupa fish. Ordered that and fried morning glory. The fish weighed 1.4kg!

They actually gave rice paper with lots of vegetables with the steamed fish. The steam fish is so fresh and nice. We love the fried morning glory too. The vermicelli on top of the fish is so yummy as it has soaked up the sauce and fish essence.

The restaurant is so nice to give seashell keychains as souvenir. Total 1060k dong. Really worth the money. Around S$58.

We were so pleasantly surprised that there is priory embarkation for the tender boats for suite guests. The queue was super long and we are really grateful for this. Thanks to Mar for escorting us to the tender boat from the ship and now to the front of the line for the tender boat back to the ship.

Awesome view of the ship from the tender boat.

Love this picture of Celebrity Solstice most!

Photographs from the photographer taken the day before.

Golden Groove's performance at the Grand foyer.

Dinner at Luminae. There were shrimp with tomato paste, Pate de Champagne and smoked potato soup for starters. I ordered seared scallops and hubby ordered veal chop for entrees tonight!

I should not have ordered so much. Quite bloated and could not finish the food. 😅 The scallops are not as sweet and juicy though. Dessert was delicious. I had chocolate souffle with coffee gelatto and macaroon with sorbet.

Breathtaking  Celebrity showtime Amade. Love the acrobats.

Took some fruits and a tuna pizza from ocean view cafe. Hubby love the cherry brandy ice cream.

Day 9 Chan May port

Beautiful seaview from the balcony.

They made smoked salmon with cream cheese for me which was not in the menu The breakfast in suite is good. We ordered french toast , poached egg on toast, bacon, croissant, fruits, coffee and premium orange juice. The croissants were still warm and flacky.

The photographs taken by the photographer yesterday was already available.

Ship closing up the land near Chan May port.

The giant tetrapods along the groyne are so awesome. So many small boats in the bay.

We waited at Michael's Club for the gangway to be ready.

Our guide, Dong, is already at the port.

Many tetrapods close up along the road

Decided to visit Hue which is nearer to the port instead of Hoi An and Ba Na Hill which we planned to visit in 2024.

Going to engage Lily (same name as me) from UPtravel again (WhatsApp  +84964001933) next year as she is really good!

Our guide for the Hue tour is Dong and she is so good I am going to request for her service again next year when we visit Danang.

Explored Hue Citadel - the last Royal Palace of the Nguyen Dynasty where the 13 last Kings of Vietnam worked and stayed in the past.

Outside the Citadel, Dong showed us the moats and explained why there are four cannons representing four seasons and 5 canons on the other side representing the 5 elements. The 3 steps on the flag tower represents earth, man and heaven

Dong is so patient in explaining the different parts of the citidel.

Lunch at Hanh Pancake .
We ordered 1 set and 2 more dishes. My goodness. What a spread with more than 10 local delights!

Banh beo is like our chiu Kueh (rice cake) but with minced dry shrimp instead of caipo (preserved radish).

The crisp spring roll is pretty the same as what we have in Singapore.

Banh nam is like Chee Cheong fun (rolled steam cake) with dried shrimp.

Nem is like our summer roll but dip in peanut sauce

Very nice crispy pancake.

The very nice salted coffee. Was hesitant to try iced coffee as I normally take only hot coffee. This was so good and I am going to miss it!

Banh it is crispy with rice cake and shimp,

Banh Loc is sticky rice with big dried shrimp. It's so nice I took 2. Wish I can take more but so bloated.

Nem lui is wrapped fig, pork skewer and vegetable in rice paper.

Banh Khoai. Very crispy and nice. You dip it in the peanut sauce. Everything is so nice and I wish I had more stomachs for that. Cannot pack as we are not allowed to bring food up the ship.

Thanks to Dong for demonstrating how to eat the local snacks. Love her service and would like to engage her service next year when we visit Danang and Hoi An.

Took a short dragon boat trip (15 minutes) across the Perfume River to visit the romantic riverside pagoda: Lady Pagoda.

Explored the Emperor Tu Duc Mausoleum. A charming architectural design with a long water pond in a traditional way of Hue area: house and garden with pond.

Attracted by the aroma of the curry, we went to the ocean view for dinner

Took Bahama Mama cocktail and hubby Blue Hawaiian at Martini bar.

Souvenirs from today's tour at Hue.

A magic mirror which you press and the photo is lighted up. The 2 photos taken at the citidel today. As well as the pop up cards bought on the dragon boat tour when we were sailing on perfume river.
